Universities should extend helping hand for ‘aatm nirbhar’ India: Governor
PRAYAGRAJ, March 6 (HS): Governor Anandiben Patel on Friday attended convocation ceremony of Professor Rajendra Singh ‘Rajju Bhaiya’ State University and said universities need to extend a helping hand in making India ‘aatm nirbhar (self dependent). Deputy Chief Minister, Dr. Dinesh Sharma and Union Minister, Dr. Mahendra Nath Pandey also addressed students on the occasion. Later, she visited Shringverpur Dham and performed aarti of Maa Ganga. She also performed puja at Shringi Rishi Ashram, Nishad Raj Temple and Shringverpur Dham.
MP Phulpur Keshri Devi Patel accompanied the governor.
Shringverpur reportedly got its name from Shringi Rishi, who is believed to have meditated there. He is the sage who performed the Kameshti Yajna at Makhota Dham in Basti for King Dasharatha to get a son. Shringverpur, located on the Lucknow-Prayagraj road on the banks of the Ganga, finds mention in the Puranas.
