Woman’s murder solved with the arrest of lover

PRAYAGRAJ, March 2 (HS): In connection with the murder of a woman, whose body was found in a field in Prayagraj-Pratapgarh National Highway on February 20, the Mauaima police on Friday arrested her lover, Sonu Kumar Patel from his garage in Phaphamau area. With the arrest of deceased woman lover, police claimed to have finally cracked the sensational murder case. And with the arrests came to the fore, a tale of love and deception, which led to murder of the woman.

The body of Renuka Singh (32), a resident of Koraon area in Prayagraj, bore injury marks and the police had registered a murder case against unidentified men on the complaint of her mother. She had dispute with her husband and was staying with her parents in Koraon for the last couple of years.

During investigation, the police searched the call detail records and learnt that the victim was in a relationship with Sonu Kumar Patel. The police arrested him on Tuesday. During intensive interrogation he broke down and confessed that he had killed Renuka on February 20. During sustained interrogation, he disclosed that the deceased fell in love with him and started pressurising him to get married, although she was already married. However, he was reluctant. So he decided to get rid of her and hatched a conspiracy to eliminate her.

The accused told the police that he was having a strained relationship with Renuka for the last couple of months. She was forcing him to marry her. On February 20, he consumed liquor and took her to Prayagraj-Pratapgarh National Highway in Mauaima area of Prayagraj. On the way, the accused said, broke his liquor bottle and slapped him. After this the accused drove to an isolated field on national highway and strangled her to death with the help of her dupatta. The police has seized the car used to commit the crime from Shivkuti area of Prayagraj.
