60 kg poppy straw seized, accused arrested
UDHAMPUR, Mar 2 (HS):Continuing its drive against drug peddlers, Udhampur police on Tuesday seized 60 kg of poppy straw from a truck, which was on way from Srinagar to Jammu.
Police also arrested driver of the truck, who was identified as Mohd Aslam son of Billu Khan of Malherkotla, Punjab. Reports said that during daily routine naka checking at Jakhani Chowk, Police Team of PS Udhampur, led by SHO Chanchal Singh, under the supervision of Sahil Mahajan, DySP Hqrs Udhampur, stopped one truck bearing registration number HP 62- 1285. During search, 60 kg of poppy straw like substance was recovered from the truck. In this connection, case FIR NO. 91/2021 U/S 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered at PS Udhampur and further investigation is underway.
