Foreign liquor worth 35 lacs seized in Gopalganj
Chapra/Gopalganj, 25 February, (HS): Police today seized a truck load of foreign liquor from Balthari check post under Kuchaikot police station during checking of vehicles under ‘Operation Liquor’. The Truck was bound to Muzaffarpur from Delhi. As many as 7776 bottles in 249 cartons worth 35 lacs were kept beneath the stock of clothes. Truck driver has been arrested. Kuchaikot SHO Ashvini Tiwary told that the network of liquor smugglers is being investigated.
In another incident , Excise department has seized three bags of foreign liquor from a Muzaffarpur-Delhi bound bus from Balthari check post Two persons have been arrested and they are being interrogated.
In another incident, arrested Rupesh Yadav turned out to be an international smuggler and police have recovered from his possession Nepali Charas worth 12 lacs. Rupesh Yadav was arrested on Wednesday from Bhore when he was trying to flee after snatching the bag of one Chote Lal Mishra. The bag contained 45 thousand. But people overpowered him and handed him over to police after beating. Rupesh belongs to Katihar district and his network was active in Bhore. Police said that Rupesh has confessed that he used to sell Napali Charas.
In another matter, police have arrested wanted criminal Citu Mishra from Sisai under Bhore police station. Dozens of cases are registered against him in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. Police have also recovered from his possession a 315 bore loaded pistol. SHO Subhas Kumar Singh told that on 25 December, police had arrested four persons and had recovered a Rifle, Pistol, Desi Katta and cartridges in huge number, but Citu Mishra had managed to escape. Today, on a tip off, police arrested him from Lal Chapar village.
