Amit Shah to stay as BJP Chief till December, hints BJP
New Delhi, June 13 (HS): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday dropped hints that Union Home Minister Amit Shah would stay as the party President till December this year, keeping in view the Assembly elections to be held in Jharkhand, Maharashtra and Haryana this year.
Despite the massive mandate achieved by the saffron party for the second time, winning 303 seats out of 543 Lok Sabha elections.
During the party’s national level meeting convened on Thursday, Shah told the party leaders that the BJP was yet to reach its peak even after winning highest ever tally of 303 seats in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections.
BJP’s General Secretary Bhupendra Yadav today addressed a press conference at the party’s national office headquarters and briefed the reporters about the National party meeting giving details about Shah’s message to the party workers saying the party was set to launch the membership drive which is to be followed by party’s organisational polls.
Yadav also told the media that Shah emphasised that the party’s reach needed to be expanded further towards new regions and sections of the society.
Attributing the party’s success in the recent Lok Sabha elections, Yadav said Shah credited the party’s recent electoral performance victory to the hard work of crores of party supporters resulting in BJP getting more than 50 percent vote share out in the 220 Lok Sabha seats.
Yadav also informed that during the meeting, it was decided that former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who is the also the party’s Vice-President would lead the party’s membership drive along with assistance from four other party leaders.
Yadav said the BJP currently has 11 crore members and is aiming to increase it by 20 per cent.
