New Delhi, January 12 (HS). Indian badminton stars Saina Nehwal and HS Prannoy have been found infected with the corona virus. Both players are in Thailand to participate in the Thailand Open Badminton Tournament to be held from January 12 to 17, but now both of them have been quarantined in a hospital in Thailand.
In a tweet, the Badminton Association of India (BAI) said that Saina and Prannoy have been removed from the tournament and both will have to remain separated for at least 10 days in a hospital in Bangkok. Although BAI made no mention of Saina’s husband, Parupalli Kashyap, Kashyap has given a walkover to his Canadian rival Jason Ho-Shue, ending his participation in the Thailand Open.
BAI tweeted on Tuesday, “We are constantly in touch with the BWF as well as the organisers and our team management and players. These are unprecedented times but BWF is doing everything to ensure full support to our players including their safety.”
Several other Indian players including PV Sindhu, Sai Praneeth, Kidambi Srikanth are participating in the Thailand Open tournament.
