Christchurch Test: New Zealand lead by 362 runs against Pakistan, Williamson hits fourth double
Christchurch, January 05 (HS). New Zealand declared their first innings after scoring a mammoth total of 659 runs for 6 wickets on the third day of the second Test against Pakistan. Kiwi captain Kane Williamson scored his fourth double century, scoring a brilliant 238 runs.
While, Henry Nicholls scored 157, Darryl Mitchell, playing his debut Test, scored an unbeaten 102 runs. Based on the first innings, New Zealand has gained a lead of 362 runs.
Pakistan scored 297 runs in their first innings. At the end of the day’s play, Pakistan have scored 8 runs in their second innings, losing 1 wicket. Pakistan is still 354 runs behind the hosts. Abid Ali (7) and Mohammad Abbas (1) are at the crease after the end of the third day’s play, while, Shaan Masood is out without opening his account. He was dismissed by Kyle Jamieson.
Earlier, New Zealand started playing ahead of 286 runs at the loss of three wickets today. Williamson 112 and Nicholls 89 runs put a brilliant display and went on to share a 369 runs stand for the fourth wicket.
Williamson scored fourth double century of his career while Nicholls scored his seventh century. Williamson hit 28 fours off 364 balls, Nicholls hit 18 fours and a six off 291 balls and Mitchell hit eight fours and two sixes off 112 balls.
