All Indian and Australian players test positive ahead of the Sydney test
Melbourne, January 04 (HS): The Covid-19 Test of Indian and Australian cricket players and support staff has come negative and both teams are fit to fly to Sydney for the third Test match starting from January 07.
The Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) said in a statement, “The members and support staff of the Indian cricket team performed the RT-PCR test for Covid-19 on January 3, 2021. All had negative results.”
A Cricket Australia (CA) spokesperson confirmed that the Australian team and match officials also had negative test results.
The spokesman said, “Covid-19 tests were also conducted by the CA players, staff and match officials yesterday and all the results have come out negative”.
The issue of testing of players was also arising because five Indian players, including Rohit Sharma, are being accused of breaking the protocol. They all went to a restaurant. These five players were asked to train separately from the rest of the team. However, the Indian Cricket Board also confirmed that five players will now go to Sydney along with the rest of the team.
