ED to grill Bineesh Kodiyeri in connection with Bengaluru drug case..
Kochi, Sept 09 (HS) : Bineesh Kodiyeri, son of CPM State Secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, is being questioned by the Enforcement Directorate on Wednesday over his alleged links with drug peddler Mohammed Anoop, who was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in the Bengaluru drug case, and the gold smuggling case.
The agency found that Anoop and Bineesh were in contact with each other over telephone.
K T Ramees, an accused in gold smuggling scam, who is in NIA custody, has been found to be a business associate of Anoop and Bineesh. The NIA and the Customs too may grill Bineesh to find out details of his links with Ramees and other accused in the gold smuggling case.
Bineesh owned two dubious institutions in Bangalore by name B Capital Financial Services and B Capital Forex Trading Company which were wound up following reports of financial irregularities. The investigating agencies doubt that Bineesh had used these companies as a screen for money laundering and purchasing Hyat and Spice Day, two luxury hotels in Bangalore.
This is the first time in the history of Kerala a close relation of a CPI-M leader comes under the scanner of three elite investigation agencies of the centre.
