Athens, Jan 22 (HS): Greece’s parliament on Wednesday elected Ekaterini Sakellaropoulou as the first female president. The newly appointed President has a good understanding of the environment and the law. 261 members voted in favor of 63-year-old Ekaterini Sakellaropoulou.<\/p>\n

The head of parliament, Costas Tassoulas, reported that 261 MPs voted in favor of 63-year-old Ekaterini Sakellaropoulou as President of Republican Greece. Kellapoulou is the daughter of a Supreme Court judge and has a bachelor’s degree from the Sorbonne University in Paris. She will take an oath on 13 March.<\/p>\n

she will be the first head of the Council of State of Greece. She will be the President of Greece as well as the Commander in Chief which is a formal post. In Greece, the President approves governments and laws, She also has the power to declare war with the government. 64-year-old Kellapoulou (Ekaterini Sakellaropoulou) will also chair the top administrative court of Greece.<\/div>\n

Ekaterini Sakellaropoulou will be the successor to Prokopis Pavlopoulos, whose five-year term ends in March. Ekaterini Kellapoulou, daughter of a Supreme Court judge, studied post-graduation from the Sorbonne University in Paris. She will be the first woman to chair the Council of State.<\/p>\n
