Ola CEO Bhavish Aggarwal has introduced a new reporting system, mirroring Elon Musk’s recent directive to US federal workers. In an internal message last week, Aggarwal asked employees to submit weekly updates in 3 to 5 bullet points. These reports will go directly to Aggarwal and the respective managers.

Aggarwal named the initiative “Kya Chal Raha Hai?” meaning “What is going on?” He emphasized that all employees must participate. “We’re starting ‘Kya Chal Raha Hai?’ as a simple way to share your weekly updates directly with me and your managers, starting today,” he wrote.

Employees must use clear language and bullet points to summarize their weekly accomplishments. Aggarwal specified that the email should be sent to their manager and Kyachalrahahai@olagroup.in, which would be activated within an hour. “Keep it simple and to the point,” he instructed. The subject line must read “Weekly updates.”

The deadline for the first submission was by the end of the day, with future updates expected before Sunday night. “Everyone has to send this,” Aggarwal stated firmly.

His announcement followed Musk’s recent order for US federal employees to submit weekly reports detailing their work in five bullet points. Musk, as head of the US Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), warned that failure to comply could result in termination.

Aggarwal’s move triggered criticism on social media. Users accused him of imitating Western business trends rather than innovating. “From the first product itself, they’ve just been copying,” one user on X wrote. Another added, “The likes of Bhavish have built their careers by copying trends from the West.”

Critics also slammed the lack of originality. “The unoriginality and frequent plagiarism are cringe-worthy. It’s a hallmark of Indian society. Been noticing it for decades,” another X user commented.

Despite the backlash, Aggarwal remains firm on the directive, making it a mandatory practice at Ola. Employees now face a new routine of summarizing their work every week, ensuring accountability and transparency.
