On Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed joy over the government\u2019s decision to grant classical language status to Pali. He stated that this move has brought happiness to followers of Lord Buddha\u2019s teachings.<\/p>\n

Modi also expressed gratitude to the scholars and monks from various countries who participated in the panel discussion on “Pali as a Classical Language” organized by the Indian Council of Cultural Relations (ICCR) in Colombo.<\/p>\n

Responding to a post by \u2018India in Sri Lanka\u2019 on X, Modi said, “I\u2019m glad the decision to grant Pali classical language status has sparked joy among those who follow Lord Buddha\u2019s ideas. I thank the scholars and monks who joined the event in Colombo.”<\/p>\n

Earlier, Sri Lanka welcomed India\u2019s decision in an X post, while ICCR Colombo hosted a panel on the topic with Dr. Satyanjal Pandey, India\u2019s Deputy High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, as the chief guest.<\/p>\n
