Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has arrived in the United States for an important diplomatic visit. He will meet with President Donald Trump on Tuesday, February 4, at the White House. The two leaders plan to discuss regional security, the Gaza ceasefire, and strategic cooperation between their nations.
Netanyahu emphasized that this visit is a valuable opportunity to strengthen the long-standing ties between Israel and the U.S. Several key topics are on the agenda, including lasting peace in Gaza, curbing Iran’s growing influence, and expanding diplomatic relations with Arab countries.
The timing of the meeting is crucial, as talks regarding the second phase of the Gaza ceasefire are imminent. The previous agreements included a swap of hostages, which has raised hope for advancing the peace process. Hamas, which regained control of Gaza after the ceasefire took effect last month, has stated it will release the remaining hostages only after the war ends and Israeli forces fully withdraw.
The ceasefire, which began on January 19, has already led to four successful prisoner swaps, with Israel releasing Palestinian prisoners in exchange for Israeli hostages. The White House meeting will mark President Trump’s first encounter with a foreign leader after his election.
