Zimbabwe cricket temporarily suspends all cricket activities due to Corona virus
Harare, January 04 (HS): Zimbabwe Cricket has temporarily suspended all cricketing activities in the country in view of the new lockdown restrictions announced by the government due to an increase in Covid-19 cases. According to a statement by the country’s Sports and Entertainment Commission, all sports-related activities in Zimbabwe have been temporarily suspended.
“It is a very challenging situation, but Zimbabwean cricket aims to reschedule all the affected competitions – including the men’s domestic T20 competition which was to begin this Monday,” Zimbabwe Cricket said in a statement.
Zimbabwe has not played any international match since returning from a tour of Pakistan in November 2020. They played a limited-overs series of six matches in Pakistan. They were scheduled to host Afghanistan in August last year, but that series was canceled. India was also scheduled to visit Zimbabwe in August for three ODIs, but the series was eventually canceled.
