Lucknow, 22 June  (HS) :     Taking tough stand against people involved in ‘forceful religious conversion’ of financially weak and innocent people, the Uttar Pradesh government has issued strict directives to the Police force and investigating agencies to knock down such rackets operating in the state and invoke stringent provisions of NSA and Gangster Act against them.

The State Government has geared up to eliminate such gangs who are forcing people to convert into other religions by offering them job, money, marriage, and other facilities, and ruining the heterogeneous structure of the society.

UP CM Yogi Adityanath has directed the police and investigating agencies to enquire into the matter and take strict action against those found guilty. On the directions of CM, the police department is preparing to impose NSA and Gangster Act against those involved in the conspiracy to forcefully convert the religion.

The State Government has given instructions to arrest every convict associated with the ‘forceful religious conversion’ gangs and send them to jail. The network of gangs involved in conversion is also being probed. The Investigation teams are also tracking the financial transactions and fundings of the people associated with such gangs by confiscating their properties.

The Uttar Pradesh police recently arrested a gang involved in a religious conversion racket that converted 1000 people from Ghaziabad .

According to police, the racket targeted poor families, unemployed youth, and handicapped people, especially those who were hearing and speech impaired, children and forced them to change their religion. Police also stated that this might be a case of funding from various sources for religious conversions
