West Bengal records 500 plus cases for second straight day

Kolkata, North 24 Parganas and Howrah- the pandemic epicentre in the state – reported 70% of the 521 new infections and, 11 of the deaths.The two other fatalities occurred in Hooghly and Malda districts.
According to the state health department, Kolkata reported 171 cases in the past 24 hours, pushing the toll to 5,573. As many as 1,937 active cases, 3,270 recoveries and 366 fatalities were reported so far. Similarly, North 24 Parganas reported 132 cases in a day, taking the Corona toll to 2,677. There are 984 active cases, whereas 1596 recoveries and 97 deaths reported in the city.
Besides, Hooghly is also recording surge in number of Covid positive cases, with 941 cases reported so far. Of these 30 cases were recorded in the last 24 hours. There are 234 active cases in the district. As many as 686 people recovered so far, while 21 succumbed to Corona.
South 24 Parganas has recorded 955 cases, out of which 33 were reported in the last 24 hours. As many as 446 people have recovered, 25 died and 484 people are undergoing treatment in various hospitals.
