Wedding celebrations gone sour:Groom hospitalised
Telangana:Hyderabad: March 21 :Kanika Kapoor, a Bollywood singer who came to Lucknow from London and was admitted to the King George’s Medical University (KGMU) hospital in Lucknow after she tested positive for the novel coronavirus. She is believed to have not disclosed her travel history to the state health department .
A similar incident occured in Telagana Warangal district, disregarding both the State and Central government’s advisory against public gatherings amid the Covid-19 outbreak, a wedding with over 1,000 people, including VIPs, was conducted in Ramannapet under Warangal municipal limits on19th March. at Nandana Gardens Hanamkonda.
A resident of Warangal returned from France and his wedding was performed with pomp and gaiety. The catch is he should have mandatorily quarantined himself after his travel to Telangana on March 12. Police said groom and his friend were screened at the RGI Airport and were advised to stay at home for a period of 14 days. As over a week had passed with no symptoms of Covid-19, he decided to go ahead with the wedding, as per his family’s wishes.
It is believed that the guests who had attended the wedding who were 1000 plus were unaware of his travel history. Officials are collecting details of the guests so that they could be tested for the virus.
Thus on receipt of information Warangal police yesterday rushed to the groom’s house and shifted him and his family to MGM Hospital for tests and subsequent isolation. Few guests who later on got to know the groom’s isolation are now alleging that police did not act then because many VIP s attended the wedding in the town.
Police and the guests who attended the wedding are now awaiting the medical report of the groom and his friend with bated breath which is expected today evening.
