“We are monitoring the situation of the CAA”- US State Department
New Delhi,Dec 17 (HS): Protests are being organized in the country against the Citizenship Amendment Act. At the same time, America said that it is closely monitoring the situation made about this law.
A spokesman for the US State Department said, “We are monitoring the situation of the Citizenship Amendment Act.” We urge to protect and respect the rights. We also urge the protesters to stay away from violence. Respect for religious freedom and equal treatment under the law, these two principles are the core of our democracies. The United States urges India to protect the rights of its religious minorities keeping in mind the Constitution and democratic values of India.
Earlier, The United Nations said that it is closely reviewing the impact of the Citizenship (Amendment) Act of India. Farhan Haque, the Deputy General Secretary of the General Secretary Antonio Guterres gave this information. He said, ‘We are aware that the Upper and Lower House of the Indian Parliament has passed the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill and we are also aware of the concerns being expressed publicly in this regard. The United Nations is analyzing the possible consequences of the law.
