Veteran journalist Nemai Bhattacharya passes away
Kolkata, June 25 (HS) Press Club, Kolkata deeply mourned the death of veteran and renowned journalist Nemai Bhattacharya who passed away in Kolkata Thursday afternoon. He was 89 .
In a condolence message here this evening, Press Club president Snehasis Sur and secretary Kingshuk Pramanik said Bhattacharya began his journalistic carrier in the city and later moved to New Delhi where he spent a considerable time as Political and Diplomatic Correspondent of various newspapers.
While working for Lok Sevak, Janasevak, Viswamitra and Jugantar he came in close contact with several Heads of States and Governments. He was awarded Gold Medal from Press Club of India for his exclusive news on India’s victory in Goa.
He also excelled as writer and novelist. His novel ‘Memsaheb’ was widely acclaimed . He had more than 100 titles to his credit.
Floral tributes were paid to Bhattacharya on behalf of Press Club and the members conveyed their heartfelt condolence to the bereaved family.
