Patna, Nov 14 (HS): The last rites of renowned mathematician Vashisth Narayan Singh will be observed with state honour. This was announced by chief minister Nitish Kumar today. Kumar expressed his deep sorrow over the demise of Singh.
Terming Singh’s death as a huge loss for Bihar and India, the CM said that Singh through his studies and remarkable researches made India proud in the world. He had challenged the Einstein ‘s theory to create a stir in math and science world through his cycle vector space theory.
After his initial education at Netarhat, now in Jharkhand, Singh attained PhD degree in mathematics from Barkley University in California in 1969 and served as teacher in Washington and also had a stint at NASA before returning to India in 1971. After his marriage he developed some mental problem and was diagnosed as schizophrenic. This continued till he breathed his last on Thursday morning. His body was taken to his native place Basantpur in Bhojpur district in Bihar where his last rites will be performed.
