Washington, Jan 22 (HS): The US has put 15 Venezuelan aircraft on the sanctions list. The Department of Treasury issued this statement. These aircraft have been placed in the specially designated list of the Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC). This list includes the model number, serial number and tail number of each aircraft.

In early January, US Special Representative for Venezuela Elliott Abrams told the media that the US is trying its best to pressure the Maduro government by banning Venezuela.

In fact, the United States and European countries had proposed in the United Nations Security Council that Venezuela is provided uninterrupted help. Russia and China used veto against this proposal.

Meanwhile, 178 tonnes of rice, legumes, and other food items being sent under the leadership of the US was stopped by the Maduro security forces at the border. Due to this conflict, four people were killed. To this, US Minister Steven Mnuchin said in a statement, “We are fighting against members of Maduro’s security forces in response to the burning of food and medicines, malicious violence and the tragic deaths of people in Venezuela for the sick and hungry.”

It is noteworthy that the leader of the opposition in Venezuela, Juan Guido, has been recognized as the interim president by the US and about 50 other countries, but Maduro has the support of Russia and China.
