UP May have a film city on Mumbai lines
Lucknow, September 19(HS) Encouraged by the interest shown in the state by some film makers, the Uttar Pradesh government toys with the Idea of developing a film city in Noida, close to the Union capital.
The city is proposed to be developed on the lines of the Film City in Mumbai. It will have the necessary facilities for film making.
The area will be close to Yamuna expressway to provide better connectivity which is one of the requirements for the success of the project.
How this came to chief minister Yogi Adityanath’s mind is not known but an official confirmed on Saturday that the subject was discussed during video conferencing on Friday.
Recent developments in Mumbai which has given the city a bad name could be one of the reasons. The government there has mishandled the situation and hurt many people connected with film making.
Yogi is already on record saying that he will create enough jobs in the state to prevent UP-ites from going out. He had made this statement after reports of maltreatment of workers from UP by some factory owners in Maharashtra.
It was not an empty promise. The UP government had offered jobs to a record number of migrants on few occasions during the complete lockdown period
As far as the film making is concerned, the government has already worked out a new policy which has found many takers.
To attract others, it has proposed to make
Twenty reforms out of remaining 61 which are needed to help doing business related to film industry with ease.
The total number of film makers who have shot 80 per cent of scenes in the state so far is not immediately available but officials say the number would not be small.
The list includes Sarani,Barfi, and Toilet: Ek Prem Katha.
Mukti Bhawan, Masaan,Laga Chunri Mein Daag and Bunty Aur Babli are the film for which shooting was largely done in Varanasi, the PM Narendra Modiconstituency.
Gulabo Sitabo in which Amitabh Bachchan has played the lead role is one of films shot in Lucknow and released recently.
