UP Govt to admit over 4 lakh RTE admission
PRAYAGRAJ, April 13 (HS): This academic year, the Uttar Pradesh government plans to admit more than four lakh students to private schools in the state under the Right to Education (RTE) Act. More than 54,000 students have already been assigned seats in the first round, and more rounds of admissions will be held. The mapping of over 34,000 schools with over four lakh seats was completed this year by government officials. More students are being recruited as part of the drive.
“Under the RTE initiative, 54,727 students have already been assigned seats in the first round. The mapping of 34,483 schools, with 4,07,978 seats for RTE students, was completed this year, according to the government order. According to statistics, the ten districts of Uttar Pradesh that received the most applications were Lucknow, Varanasi, Kanpur, Aligarh, Moradabad, Gorakhpur, Ghaziabad, Agra, Gautam Budh Nagar, and Saharanpur.
Between April 24 and April 26, the second phase of applications will be approved. On April 28, a draw will be used to choose the winners. All children aged six to fourteen years are entitled to free and compulsory education under the RTE. According to the rules, private schools must set aside 25% of their seats for children from economically and socially disadvantaged families. For each student’s education, the education department pays Rs 450 per month.
