Lucknow,May 16(HS)The Uttar Pradesh government has ordered a high-level inquiry into the road accident in Auraiya on Saturday which led to killing of 24 migrant workers.Thirty-eight others were injured who have been have been admitted in nearby hospitals.Condition of some of them is critical.
The government has directed all district magistrates to make arrangements for safe transportation of migrant workers seen on road walking towards their villages and towns.
Two police officials have been suspended in connection with the accident.
The tragedy occurred as one truck hit the rear of another which was carrying workers belonging to Jharkhand,Bihar and UP.They were working in Punjab and Rajasthan.
State chief minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed grief along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and home minister Amit Shah over the accident. BSP chief Mayawati has blamed officials for the accident and demanded action against them.
