UP govt budget: Rs 5.12 lakh crore allocated for 2020-21..

New Delhi, Feb 18 (HS): The Uttar Pradesh government on Tuesday presented its annual budget for the fiscal starting on April 1. The total budget outlay for the financial year 2020-21 is Rs 5,12,860.72 crore, which is Rs 33,159 crore more than last year.

The new budget has made several provisions for new schemes for the state that included Rashtriya Poshan Abhiyan worth Rs 4000 crores, construction of Kashi Vishwanath Mandir. Besides, the budget also have provisions for constructing Law University in Prayagraj and Ayush University in Gorakhpur.

To strengthen the infrastructure in the state, the UP budget has allotted Rs 900 crore for the development of the Delhi-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System.  The government has also given Rs 200 crore for metro facilities in Gorakhpur and other cities.

To construct a metro in Kanpur district, the government has made provision of additional Rs 358 crore. The state government has also allocated Rs 2,000 crore for Jewar airport in Greater Noida and Rs 500 crore for an airport in Ayodhya.

A provision of Rs. 10,967.87 crores have been made for new schemes in the budget. The Rashtriya Poshan Abhiyaan is a flagship programme to improve nutritional outcomes for children, pregnant women and lactating mothers for which the Yogi government has made special provisions.

Besides, the UP government has also allocated almost Rs 5,800 crore towards the Swachh Bharat Mission. In addition, Rs 20,000 crore has been set aside for smart city projects in Lucknow, Kanpur and other districts in the state.
