Union Home Secretary reviews preparedness to contain Covid-19
New Delhi, March 17 (HS): Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla reviewed the level of preparedness to contain Corona Virus threat, with states bordering Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh and Myanmar.
Through a video conference with top officials including Chief Secretaries and DGP of all the states adjoining these countries, the Union Home Secretary reviewed the strong border management to ensure no infiltration across the borders. Besides, he also reviewed the medical facilities, availability of medical staff, avoiding mass gathering in their respective states etc.
These states include Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Bihar, West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Manipur, Tripura, Nagaland and Meghalaya. In addition, Ajay Bhalla also talked to Secretary, Border Management and DsG of BSF, SSB and Assam Rifles.
The States informed that regular screening was being done by doctors at various transit points and the community in border areas has been sensitized in respect of precautions to be taken to avoid getting infected by the virus, through gram sabhas.
Bhalla urged all the officials to ensure that round the clock deployment of doctors, with requisite testing kits and other medical supplies, be done so that hundred percent screening could be done without fail.
