Karachi,01 May(HS): Former Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Najam Sethi has made a shocking disclosure, saying that banned batsman Umar Akmal is suffering from epilepsy and refused to get it treated.

Sethi told a TV channel, “We had a medical report confirming that he was suffering from epilepsy and we had called him back from West Indies. When I met him I told him that this is serious and that he needed to take a break. But he did not listen to me.”

He said, “I stopped him from playing for two months, but later we sent medical reports to the selectors and left him to them as I did not like interfering with their work.”

The board suspended Umar Akmal for three years for not giving the board information about the spot-fixing offer in the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

Sethi also said that despite being a talented player, Umar always gave himself more attention than the team.

He said, “He does not follow discipline. He used to think of himself more than his team. This suspension of three years would end his career.”
