Uddhav Thackeray counters BJP’s ‘Jai Shri Ram’ with ‘Jai Bhavani, Jai Shivaji’
Uddhav Thackeray urged his supporters to counter BJP’s ‘Jai Shri Ram’ chant with ‘Jai Shivaji’ and ‘Jai Bhavani.’ Speaking at a rally in Mulund, he accused the BJP of dividing society and compared its rule to Nazi Germany under Adolf Hitler.
“If they say ‘Jai Shri Ram,’ reply with ‘Jai Shivaji’ and ‘Jai Bhavani,’” Thackeray said. “BJP has poisoned society. I will fight them for this.”
He questioned BJP’s stance on international sports, highlighting its past opposition to playing against Pakistan while now engaging in matches with both Pakistan and Bangladesh.
Thackeray responded to Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis, who recently said, “I am not Uddhav Thackeray to stop projects.” He challenged Fadnavis to follow his leadership by granting farmer loan waivers and increasing funds for welfare schemes like Shiv Bhojan and Ladki Bahin in the upcoming budget.
He defended halting certain projects as CM, including the relocation of the Metro-3 car shed. He claimed he planned to move it to Kanjur Marg, but after his government fell, BJP allocated the land to the Adani group.
The dispute over the Metro-3 car shed began after Thackeray’s Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government collapsed in 2022. When Eknath Shinde and BJP took power, they decided to build the shed in Aarey, while Thackeray had pushed for Kanjur Marg.
Thackeray also reminded Fadnavis that the Mumbai coastal road project was his initiative. “I did the groundbreaking ceremony,” he said, asserting his role in Maharashtra’s development.
