Two UP man held along with arms in Banihal
Jammu, March 6(HS): Jammu and Kashmir police have arrested two Uttar Pradesh persons along with arms and ammunition in Banihal on intervening night. Reports said during the intervening night of 5, 6 March 2021, a specific information was received by Kulgam Police from reliable sources that illegal arms and ammunition is being transported in a Santro car bearing registration number JK04-9750 which is coming from Banihal towards Qazigund. On receipt of this information, a joint checkpoint was established near Jawahar Tunnel by Kulgam Police, 9 RR and 24 Battalion of CRPF and the said car was intercepted. Two persons identified as Mohammad Danish son of Shamshad Ahmad and Nawshad son of Mohammad Yunus both residents of Bijnoor Uttar Pradesh were boarding the car. During checking, 01 Pistol and 20 rounds of ammunition were recovered from their possession. Both the accused persons were arrested besides the vehicle they were travelling by was also seized. In this regard, a case FIR No. 40/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered in Police Station Qazigund and further investigation is in progress.
