Two senior ED officers on hit list of Maoists in Jharkhand and Bihar
New Delhi, Jun.25 (HS): Two senior Enforcement Directorate officials who are working on the cases to curb the extortion by Maoists and attached their properties in last one year in Bihar and Jharkhand are on radar of left wing extremist group, intelligence sources of Bihar and Jharkhand said.
As per senior ED sources, the two officials one of them being a Joint Director level and other working under him are on the radar of the Maoists, whose properties were attached by the agency.
The source also said that the action of the financial probe agency has angered the Maoist Extremist Group, as they thought that the action against them and their leaders was being decided by the ED officials in Delhi.
The ED has attached properties of several Maoist leaders in the Bihar and Jharkhand in last one and half years. The source informs that the name of the Joint Director was leaked to the Maoists during the questioning of their family members and close associates.
The source further said that the Intelligence report regarding the same will be shared with the government in the coming days as it also talks about avenging the action of the agency officials. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the ED are probing into the cases of Maoists funding in several districts of Jharkhand and Bihar.
On February 5, last year the ED in its first action against the Maoists had attached properties worth Rs 86 lakh of a top Maoist leader for violation of provisions of the money laundering act. The agency attached the properties of Sandeep Yadav alias Vijay Yadav alias Rupesh Jee alias Badka Bhaiya, in charge of the Madhya Zone of the Bihar-Jharkhand Special Area Committee of CPI (Maoist).
