Ankara 25 January (HS): The number of people who died due to an earthquake in Turkey has increased to 22 on Saturday. More than 1000 people are injured.

Health Minister Dr. Fahrettin Koca said relief workers were searching for about 30 people buried under the building in Elazig province. The number of dead can increase.

Emergency activists and security forces distributed tents, beds, and blankets among the people as the temperature in the affected areas were very low. Mosques, sports halls, schools have been opened for homeless people after the earthquake. One victim said that he stayed in the sports hall with his family like no other the place could be safe.

The Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency, or AFAD, said. It was followed by several aftershocks, the strongest with magnitudes 5.4 and 5.1.

Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu said that rescuers were trying to reach survivors after a four- or five-story building collapsed in the town of Maden, in Elazig. Approximately 4-5 buildings collapsed in Service, where two people were hurt.
