Trump’s Alleged Third Assassination Plot Foiled by Riverside Police, Says Sheriff
Police in Coachella Valley, California, may have stopped an assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump during his rally on Saturday, according to Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco. Deputies arrested 49-year-old Vem Miller from Las Vegas after stopping his black SUV about half a mile from the rally.
Miller had reportedly passed through a security checkpoint using fake VIP and media credentials. Deputies became suspicious after noticing his car’s “disarray” and a fake license plate. Upon searching the vehicle, police found multiple fake driver’s licenses, passports under different names, a loaded handgun, and a shotgun—both unregistered.
Miller was arrested without incident and charged with possession of a loaded firearm and a high-capacity magazine. Sheriff Bianco suggested Miller could be part of the “sovereign citizens” movement, a group that rejects the legitimacy of the U.S. government.
Bianco told reporters, “I truly believe we prevented another assassination attempt,” referring to the fake documents and weapons found in Miller’s possession. The sheriff described Miller as a “lunatic” and praised his deputies for preventing a potential attack. Miller is currently being held at the John J. Benoit Detention Center.
