Trump denies NYT claim of Musk’s Pentagon briefing on secret China war plans
Donald Trump denied a New York Times report claiming the Pentagon would brief Elon Musk on U.S. war plans against China. He dismissed the report as “ridiculous” on Truth Social, stating China would not be discussed.
Defense chief Pete Hegseth also refuted the claim, saying officials would meet Musk to discuss innovation and efficiency, not secret war plans. He called the NYT report “fake news” on X, confirming the meeting’s focus on smarter production.
The NYT had reported that Musk would see 20 to 30 slides outlining U.S. strategy before Trump. This report fueled ongoing criticism of Musk’s role in the administration. Critics, mainly from the left, question his ties to China and the Pentagon.
The White House has assured that Musk will step aside if conflicts of interest arise. Despite the controversy, officials insist the meeting is routine and unrelated to military conflict planning.
