Trainee Civil Servants Turn Bizmen for a Day
Telangana: Hyderabad: November 14 (HS) The trainee Civil Servants, representing 23 States and 15 Services, organised “FETE- The Mela”, a day-long fun-filled food-cum-recreation extravaganza, on November 13th, 2019, as a part of their rigorous 94th Foundation Course (FC) at Dr. Marri Channa Reddy Human Resource Development Institute of Telangana.
It was a pleasant surprise to see the trainee Civil Servants not only showcasing their culinary skills and dishing out mouth-watering delicacies, which reflected the true diversity of India, but also proactively selling them as hard-core businessmen. The dishes at various stalls included Fish Curry, Jal Mudhi, etc. from Eastern Zone, Gajrela, MatarKulcha, etc. from Western Zone, Punjabi Lassi, Dal Kabab with Parantha, etc. from Northern Zone, and Masala Dosa, Onion Uttappam, etc. from Southern Zone. The event had much more to offer to those who wanted to gorge on delicious hot food from over 20 States.
Apart from the food items, the stalls offered an array of exciting games and activities, including JalliKattu, Smash the Rat, Fly the Plane, Drop & Catch, House of Cards, Sand Ki Aankh, Spoon Feeding, etc. in order to keep the guests engaged and entertained. The feet tapping music in the background, electrifying dancing by the trainee Civil Servants to the tunes of hit Bollywood numbers, and lively commentary brought out the true essence of this grand food and games festival.
The trainee Civil Servants implemented, with a professional touch, the theory of business plan into actual practice, which involved discovering the unique needs of customers, offering innovative products and services, and putting in place a perfect marketing plan. Finally, they succeeded in generating profits, which were donated to an NGO.
B P Acharya, IAS, Spl. Chief Secretary & DG, Dr. MCR HRD Institute congratulated the trainee Civil Servants for proving, beyond an iota of doubt, that they not only have the ability to crack the world’s toughest examination but also are endowed with multiple talents to conceptualize and execute business projects. “Most importantly, by helping each other in making the event a grand success, the trainee Civil Servants exhibited their exceptionally rich inter-personal and leadership skills”, he added.
“Overall, the ‘FETE-The Mela’ was not only a fun-filled event but also provided a platform for the trainee Civil Servants to learn important concepts of good governance. This is something that no textbook can teach us”, opined all the trainee civil servants unanimously.
Harpreet Singh, IAS, ADG inaugurated “FETE-The Mela”. The trainee Civil Servants, Officers, Faculty, Staff, and other trainees of the institute visited the stalls and relished the food items and sportingly tried their hand at all the games and activities on display.
