Srinagar, Nov 18 (HS): Train service between Srinagar and Banihal has started from today. After the removal of Articles 370 and 35A, this train service was stopped from August 5. It was decided to start the train service after 104 days. Earlier on Sunday, the train trial took place. A large number of people gathered outside the Banihal railway station during the trial run.

The rail service in Kashmir was closed for the last three months. After the removal of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, the railway service was stopped in view of the possible dangers. Trial run of trains was allowed on 10 November and it was directed to be fully restored from 11 November.

Rail service was stopped from Baramulla in north Kashmir to Banihal in south Kashmir on 5 August. This decision was taken after the removal of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir. Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh have come into existence as Union Territories since 31 October.
