New Delhi, Nov 15 (HS): November 15 is a special day in cricket history. On this day in 1989 (exactly 30 years ago), a boy of 16 years and 205 days made his test debut at the National Stadium in Karachi. At that time, he was the youngest third test cricketer to debut after Mushtaq Mohammad and Aaqib Javed. No one would have thought that this boy would one day be called the ‘God of Cricket’. It is being talked about by Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar.

The journey of Sachin started from here, which left his indelible mark in world cricket. Sachin played a total of 200 Test matches, marking a series of records. During his 24-year career, Sachin scored 15921 runs in Test cricket at an average of 53.78. During this, he scored 51 Test centuries and 68 half-centuries.

In the first Test match, Sachin was sent to play. Krishnamachari Srikkanth was captain of  India. In the first innings, Pakistan had put India under pressure by scoring 409 runs. At one time, the Indian team had lost 4 wickets on a score of 41. After the wicket of Manoj Prabhakar, it was the turn of the rising Sachin.

Sachin faced 24 balls and scored 15 runs with the help of two fours. After all, the Pakistani fast bowler who bowled Sachin was also playing his first Test match. The bowler was none other than Waqar Younis. India scored 262 runs in the first innings. It is interesting that apart from Sachin and Waqar, Shahid Saeed (Pak) and Salil Ankola also made their debut in the Karachi Test. This proved to be the first and last test of Saeed and Ankola.

Pakistan declared their second innings at a score of 305/5. India got a target of 453 runs. Indian batsmen got the match drawn after performing better (303/3), although Sachin did not get a chance to bat in the second innings. Playing his 100th Test match, Kapil Dev took 7 wickets in that Test (also a half-century) and was the man of the match.

It would be considered a coincidence that in 2013, Sachin played his last innings of Test cricket on 15 November. Sachin returned by scoring 74 runs on the second day (15 November) of the Mumbai Test, which started on 14 November against the West Indies. With this, Sachin took rest after a journey of 24 years and 1 day.
