Kolkata, 27 June (HS); In an unexpected political twist West Bengal minister of State for Housing and Sports and a senior Trinamool Congress leader Tapas Ray today flatly denied that Chief minister Mamata Banerjee had sought cooperation and support from Congress and Cpi-m to defeat BJP both at the state and the National level.
Bringing a Point of Information at the opening session of the West Bengal Legislative Assembly at the fag end of the Question Hour today,Ray categorically denied the newspaper reports that the Chief minister during her hour long address to reply the Governor’s address, had at any point of time sought  assistance and support from both Congress and the Left parties, particularly Cpi-m, and urged their leaders to join hands with her in defeating BJP at every opportunity.
The Chief minister never made any such remarks and she never sought any help or assistance from any other party to defeat BJP,  Ray said in his Point of Information.
‘There is not an iota of truth in any of these reports in today’s newspapers’, he claimed and  demanded that all reports in this connection was ‘totally false and fabricated’.
On the contrary he said the Chief minister meant that all opposition parties at the National level should come together, like what was said before the Lok Sabha elections, to fight unitedly to defeat the communal power like BJP on all fronts and she never referred to any particular party and that too in West Bengal to assist her separately.
But soon after Ray ended his observations, opposition members from both the Congress and Left benches stood up in protest and stated that Ray had been telling a lie and was trying to mislead the House.Soon they walked out of the house en masse in protest, though temporarily.
It may be recalled that the Chief minister yesterday in her speech had indeed gave a clarion call to both Congress and Cpi-m to join hands with her to unitedly fight against BJP both at the state and the national level to oust them from power

‘The nation has been facing its greatest danger of all times and it was the right time that we all fight against it unitedly instead of protesting  individually’, she told the house and even said she no longer believed that  either Congress or Cpi-m led Left Front were out to destroy the nation by any means.
