Tirupati Laddu row: Andhra CM Orders Santhi Homam Panchagavya Prokshana
Tirupati: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu accused former CM Jagan Mohan Reddy of allowing improper activities at the Tirupati Temple during his five-year rule. He claimed Reddy appointed close associates to the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) board, turning appointments into a political tool.
Naidu also blamed Reddy for allowing the supply of adulterated ghee for Tirupati Prasadam by removing quality controls and opening the door to unqualified suppliers.
Naidu further escalated the issue by alleging that animal fats were found in the ghee used for preparing the sacred prasad. He announced a Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe, promising strict action to prevent such incidents in the future.
The SIT, led by a senior officer, will investigate the misuse of power and report its findings to the government.
Meanwhile, Reddy responded by writing to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing Naidu of damaging the faith of millions for political gain. To address concerns, a Santhi Homam Panchagavya Prokshana, a purification ritual, will be held at Tirumala Temple on Monday from 6 am to 10 am.
