Three Rebels Arrested with Weapons in Imphal
Manipur Police have arrested three rebels linked to a banned militant organization in the Imphal West district. The operation took place on Friday at Leirenkabi market, where police recovered sophisticated weapons and explosives from the suspects.
The arrested individuals are Jiten Sana alias RK (40), Takhelchangbam Ibohanbi (49), and Ahibam Jimson (28). Authorities reported that the rebels are associated with the Kanglei Yawol Kanba Lup (KYKL) organization, which is known for its militant activities.
During the arrest, police recovered an AK rifle with a magazine and five rounds, an INSAS rifle with three magazines and 15 rounds, and a carbine with two magazines containing 140 rounds. Additionally, they found an INSAS LMG magazine among the seized items. Law enforcement also confiscated a four-wheeler, three mobile phones with six SIM cards, and two Aadhar cards.
This operation underscores the police’s ongoing efforts to combat militant activities in the region. By dismantling such groups, authorities aim to enhance security and restore peace in Manipur. The police continue to investigate the connections and activities of the arrested rebels to prevent further violence.
