Patna:2 March ! On February 28, 2021, the two-day GTRI (Grand Trunk Road Initiative) workshop was concluded. The theme of the last day’s session was the “Role, Impact and Responsibility of New Age Media”. In this session, Priyanka Sinha Jha, entertainment content strategist and partnership consultant, said that the nature of media has dramatically changed in recent years.Excessive interference of gazettes like mobile phones and other has led to the emergence of a completely new media with an altogether new definition. This change has both advantages and disadvantages;for instance, the reading habit among people has dwindled. Moreover, content isn’t a big deal for media anymore, so it’s entirely up to the audience to choose what they want to see from the plethora of options available. Hence, it can be difficult for the viewers also to choose what to see and what not from such a wide range of content available today.
Further, highlighting the relevance of physical book in this new media world, MileeAishwarya from Penguin Random House, India, said that the world of books is completely different. They still have relevance today, but there are considerable challenges. The physical books are also taking the shape of digital one. Yet physical books have their own distinct relevance. She went on to acknowledge that Bihar is a city with a lot of intellectual resources and potential.
Vaishali Seta, founder of Xtremeroads Travel Blog, agreed with the other two speakers and claimed that the content in today’s media has changed massively with vast array of content available. In such a situation, identifying useful or relevant informationbecome a tedious and challenging task even for the media. The critical role media in building or ruining one’s image cannot be negated; whether it is about the image associated with “Biharipan” or the image of someone else on any other occasion. Besides, media role in shaping a concept into an issue is another important aspect.
Prashant Kashyap, GM DainikJagran also emphasized on the role of media in dissemination of good content and relevant information through various media channels. He also focused on importance of cultural aspects in development of society.
The experts addressed several issues and concluded Bihar’sbranding has not been done appropriately. Despite the fact that “Biharis” can be found all over the world, Bihar’s image at global level has not changed significantly in a positive way. There is a lot of scope for the improvement in terms of image. Furthermore, Bihar’sbrandmust be built on a global scale.
At the end, Aditi Nandan, the curator of GTRi, extended his warm regards to everyone and Pratyush Gaurav proposed the vote of thanks. Shailesh Kumar, the Masters of Ceremonies, beautifully anchored and hosted the entire two-day event.
