Kolkata, Oct.22(HS): West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar, after refusing government officials to attend his meeting, said that he feels that there is some kind of censorship in West Bengal. Significantly, the district authorities refused to attend the meeting of the Governor in view of the administrative visit of the Chief Minister. Dhankar has described his refusal as ‘unconstitutional’.
The governor last week expressed his desire to hold meetings with the district magistrates, bureaucrats and elected representatives of the 24 North and South Parganas districts. They have started a tour here from Tuesday. Sources in Raj Bhavan said that the Governor’s office received letters from magistrates of two districts, stating that the officer ‘s visit to the Chief Minister’s North Bengal. According to sources, officials said that alternative arrangements will be made in view of his (Governors) visit.
The governor said I am surprised to see the letters of the district officials. In the letters, he has expressed his inability to attend meetings even when he was informed about this four days ago. Don’t know, but it seems that there is some kind of censorship in West Bengal. Despite this, he said, I will continue my tour of the districts.
Dhankhar said, “Is it appropriate that when the governor wants to meet someone, it should be censorship or need to get approval from the state government?” I am not under the state government. According to me, it is unconstitutional.
‘ On this development, BJP national general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya said that the way the state government is insulting the governor, it has never happened anywhere in the whole country. He said, there are some constitutional rules and regulations which every state government has to follow. But the manner in which Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar is being treated shows that the Trinamool government has established new rules and regulations in West Bengal and it does not want to follow the Constitution of India. The Trinamool leadership has not commented on this issue.
