Terrorist attack in London! Assailant Shot dead by police..
London, Feb 03 (HS): An act of terror is being reported from London. In Streatham, South London, a man attacked people with a knife. London’s Metropolitan Police claimed that the assailant was shot dead by armed officers. It is believed that that person has stabbed many people at random. The situation is being assessed. This act of assailant is being linked to terrorism . Three people were injured but none are in a life-threatening condition.
Police advised people to stay away from the Streatham area. While giving information about the incident, an eyewitness said that the attacker stabbed people, after which the police shot him dead.
The latest report suggest that the man shot dead by police after he stabbed people in south London who had been released from prison in January. He is identified as Sudesh Amman, 20, who was released about a week ago after serving half of his sentence of three years and four months for terror offenses. He was under active police surveillance at the time of the attack on Streatham High Road, which police believe to be an Islamist-related terrorist incident.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson reacting to the terrorist attack has said the government would announce further plans for “fundamental changes to the system for dealing with those convicted of terrorism offenses” He said the government had moved quickly to introduce measures strengthening its response to terrorism, including longer prison sentences and more money for police, following the attack at Fishmongers’ Hall, near London Bridge, in November last year.
