Telangana BJP cheers court’s Formula E ruling, calls for fair investigation
The Telangana BJP has welcomed the High Court’s decision to dismiss a petition filed by BRS working president and MLA KT Rama Rao (KTR) in the Formula E race case. The party, however, warned the ruling Congress government against accusations of political vendetta in pursuing the case. BJP spokesperson NV Subash reiterated the party’s unwavering commitment to combatting corruption and ensuring transparency in all legal processes.
The High Court, led by Justice K. Lakshman, dismissed KTR’s criminal petition in Crime No. 12/ROC-CIU ACB-2024. The case, filed by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), includes serious allegations under the Prevention of Corruption Act and the Indian Penal Code (IPC). KTR faces charges related to the illegal release of funds for the Formula E race without proper government approval.
Subash emphasized the severity of the charges and highlighted the involvement of the Enforcement Directorate (ED), which has issued notices to KTR. He urged KTR to fully cooperate with the ACB and central agencies like the ED to clear his name. “KTR must now present himself before investigative agencies and clarify the allegations if he is innocent,” Subash said. He reminded KTR of his previous statements about pending court cases and legal assistance.
Subash also pointed out procedural lapses reported during the High Court proceedings. Senior counsel for Principal Secretary M. Dana Kishore argued that funds for the Formula E project were released without the required state government approvals. Subash questioned the administrative accountability and the potential misuse of public funds. He called this a serious issue that needed to be addressed to maintain public trust.
The BJP reaffirmed its support for genuine anti-corruption efforts, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of clean governance. Subash dismissed claims of selective targeting or vindictiveness, calling them baseless. He emphasized that the BJP’s stance on corruption is non-partisan, and the party is committed to addressing it in all forms.
The Telangana BJP has once again called on the government to ensure a fair and transparent investigation into the Formula E case. They stressed that any hint of bias or vendetta should be avoided. The BJP wants the probe to remain focused on the truth, without any political interference, so that justice is served.
As the case continues to unfold, the Telangana BJP has made it clear that it will remain vigilant and continue to hold those in power accountable for any misuse of public resources. With the backing of the High Court’s decision, the party has called for a thorough and transparent investigation to ensure that the truth comes out and that the public’s trust in the legal system remains intact.
