Telangana aims to free state from Corona Virus epidemic by April 7
Telangana/Hyderabad, March 30 (HS): Social media has been very unkind in spreading unsubstantiated reports and tales that made every one pessimistic and many feared the worst. Amid the national Covid panic, a silver lining from Telangana is that the state Health department has announced that 11 Coronavirus positive patients have tested negative after treatment, were discharged today. Thus, barring one death in the state, those admitted were found stable and even treated to go home, said the state Chief Minister in a press conference held yesterday. State has reported 70 postive cases of corona virus so far.
One techie already discharged, resulting the number of active cases in the State is now 58. According to protocol, the discharged patients would have to be under home quarantine for another 14 days for precautionary measures.
Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao said, “Close to 25,937 people are under quarantine/isolation centre at present under the supervision of 5,746 teams. They are all responding well with no symptoms. Over the course of the next nine days, the quarantine period of these people will end.”
Giving a detailed schedule of the patients to be discharged, he said, “On March 30, quarantine will end for 1,899 people, for 1,440 people on March 31, for 1,461 people on April 1, for 1,887 on April 2, for 1,476 on April 3, for 1,453 on April 4, for 1,914 on April 5, for 454 people on April 6 and for 397 on April 7. After April 7, there would be no Corona positive cases in the State,” he added.
The state Chief minister optimism is borne out of the fact that there is a ban on all international and domestic flights, and at sea ports and blocking of national terrestrial borders has prevented carriers of virus from other countries or from other states. With state police implementing the lock down strictly putting close to 790 violators in detention the state aims for a Corona free state post April 7.
He appealed to the migrant labour to stay back in the state and asked them not migrate particularly to Bihar as the state government was ensuring to meet all basic needs including Rs 2000 each in their accounts as interim relief . Thanking Bihar migrant labour profusely he said you have been instrumental in the state agricultural operation particularly during harvesting and cutting of paddy and Maize crops and your absence is being felt across the state. The state government has deputed the state chief secretary Somesh Kumar to negotiate with chief secretary Bihar to bring migrant labour to Telangana by deploying special trains in coordination with the Indian Railways by next week
The chief minister of the state said the cabinet endorsed a package of Rs 30,000 crore for procurement of paddy and Maize across Telangana and no farmer need to come to market yards in districts to sell their produce. Due to the epidemic and aimed to avoid crowding, the marketing officers of the state government shall visit every village and allot coupons such that on particular day they can bring their agricultural produce on the day allotted to them. About one lakh tonne of paddy and 15 lac tons of maize is ready for procurement by state Agriculture Department, as said.
