Talk to JNU rep. to calm down situation: Amit Shah to LG..,

New Delhi, Jan 6 (HS): Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday talked to the Lt. Governor of Delhi, Anil Baijal and asked him to talk to the Jawaharlal Nehru University representatives to calm down the situation.
Sources said during a telephonic conversation, Shah took a brief note about the ongoing brawl in the JNU and asked to initiate a police inquiry into the matter.
Condemning the incident, BJP leader and Union Minister Smriti Irani said that the entire incident was shameful and the students should keep away from politics. Meanwhile, Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar has also condemned the JNU incident saying an independent inquiry had to be done into the matter. He also alleged that Congress, Left parties and AAm Admi Party collectively making an atmosphere of violence in the Universities across the country.
The Vice-Chancellor of JNU, Jagdish Kumar on Monday has appealed to the students to maintain peace and harmony in the campus. The senior warden of Sabarmati hostel, R Meena has given his resignation following the clash among the students in the university campus.
On Sunday, some students along with outsiders with their faces covered and carrying bamboo sticks and rods forcibly entered the University campus and attacked another group of students, reportedly belonging to Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP). A large number of students reportedly injured the incident.
Police have reached the spot and taken the situation under control. a case under various sections has been registered against some unknown persons for attacking the students. The Students’ Union President Ayeshi Ghosh, among other 34 students and teachers, were injured in the incident, police said.
Meanwhile, the Congress party has alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah were responsible for the brawl that took place in JNU on Sunday. During a press conference, Randeep Singh Surjewala said that the JNU incident was pre-planned and it was BJP supported.
