Swami Vishwesha Teertha of Pejawar Mutth dies today morning
Bengaluru, Dec 29 (HS): Swami Vishwesha Teertha of Pejawar Mutth died today morning in Bengaluru. The ailing seer was 88 and was suffering from illness for a long time.
He was undergoing treatment at Kasturba Hospital in Manipal, but according to the wishes of Swami ji, he was brought to the monastery from the hospital on Sunday. According to Swamiji’s close Vishwaprasanna Tirtha Swamiji, he was on life saving system in the monastery also.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi condoled the death of Swami Vishwesha Teertha, saying that he will remain in the hearts and minds of lakhs of people.
“Sri Vishvesha Teertha Swamiji of the Sri Pejawara Matha, Udupi will remain in the hearts and minds of lakhs of people for whom he was always a guiding light. A powerhouse of service and spirituality, he continuously worked for a more just and compassionate society. Om Shanti,” PM tweeted.
Pejavar Math is one of the eight monasteries of Udupi. Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa and former Union Minister Uma Bharti have mourned the death of Swamiji.
Swamiji was admitted to Kasturba Hospital in Manipal last week due to difficulty in breathing. According to the doctors, Swamiji was undergoing treatment for pneumonia in the hospital but after the situation became very serious, on Sunday night, he was shifted to the monastery as per his wishes and there was complete arrangement of life-saving equipments. The doctors tried their best to save his life but the condition of Swamiji did not improve and he breathed his last this morning.
