Strawberry Festival to give new identity to Bundelkhand : Yogi
Lucknow, 17 January (HS) : The Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh on Sunday said that the Strawberry Festival of Jhansi will give a new identity to the Bundelkhand region. He said that this festival will help in giving the farmers of the region a new platform.
CM Yogi was virtually inaugurating the month long Strawberry Festival of Jhansi today. He said that there was a belief that the land of Bundelkhand is not fertile but the farmers of the region have now broken that image and now they have additional mode of earning by growing strawberry.
Yogi said that he was informed that the cultivation of strawberry was started for the first time in Bundelkhand. He expressed his hope that the farmers would get a new source of income if strawberry cultivation gets a boost in the region.
The CM asked the officials concerned to organise such festivals in other districts too so that the farmers may get a proper platform for their products.
District Magistrate of Jhansi Andra Vamsi on the occasion said that a workplan has been made to encourage the cultivation of strawberry in the district as farmers could earn better income through the farming of this fruit. He said that in order to aware the farmers about the benefits of strawberry cultivation workshops would also be organised during the festival. Besides, the district administration would provide them the plants of strawberry, he added.
