New Delhi, Nov (HS): Voting is being held today for the presidential election in Sri Lanka on Saturday. Meanwhile, a bus carrying people to cast votes in Colombo opened fire. However, according to local police, no casualty has been reported in this attack yet.

Voting is being done for the first national election in Sri Lanka after last Easter. Voting for the presidential election in Sri Lanka continues from this morning. Voting is continuing from 7 am on Saturday to elect the 8th President of Sri Lanka. In this election, there will be a contest between former Defense Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa and ruling party candidate Sajit Premadasa. There are a total of 35 candidates in the fray whom about 1.5 crore voters will vote. At present, Maithripala Sirisena is the President.

Election Commission has estimated that it cost 7.5 billion Sri Lankan rupees ($ 4.1 million). According to sources, 26-inch ballot paper, large ballot boxes, hundreds of additional staff on election duty and additional expenses such as water, telephone, and electricity bills are factors that have increased the electoral bill.
