South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol set for jail release

A South Korean court ordered the release of impeached President Yoon Suk Yeol from jail on Friday. The Seoul Central District Court issued the ruling, according to Yonhap News Agency and other local media. However, the court has yet to confirm the reports.
Authorities arrested Yoon in January over his December 3 martial law decree. Investigators accused him of rebellion, a charge that could lead to life imprisonment or the death penalty if convicted.
In December, lawmakers impeached Yoon, forcing the Constitutional Court to decide his fate. If the court upholds the impeachment, Yoon will lose his presidency, triggering a national election within two months.
