Snowfall in Himachal-Kashmir-Uttarakhand, Many flights cancelled.
New Delhi, Jan 14 (HS): The snowfall on the mountains of Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, and Uttarakhand is affecting the plains. On Monday late evening, 18 flights from Delhi have been canceled due to bad weather. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert forecasting snowfall in Himachal Pradesh.
According to the Meteorological Department, Delhi will remain partly cloudy on Tuesday and the maximum temperature will be 18 degrees, while the minimum temperature will be around 9 degrees.
Due to western disturbances, there is a possibility of rain in Delhi on 16 and 17 January. It was raining in Delhi on Monday. Because of this, the mercury fell to 3.5 degrees below the minimum temperature.
Snowfall in Kashmir for the second consecutive day on Monday affected normal life and canceled all flights to and from Srinagar Airport. Mercury reached minus 31 degrees Celsius on Monday in Drass in Kargil. Drass, situated at an altitude of about 3300 meters from the sea, is completely covered by a sheet of ice.
Condition of many areas have become in Kashmir, the land is not visible. Roads were not visible due to thick sheets of snow. All the routes coming from the district headquarters have been closed. The shops are closed. People have to struggle for their daily needs. Roads connecting Kashmir are also closed, although the work of removing snow on a large scale is going on here.
